A Luxurious Venetian Vacation

This is another installment of Marilena’s Travel Diaries, giving personal insight into her wonderful trips taken across the Bel Paese. If you wish to see each chapter of Marilena’s travel story then follow the link HERE. Should you instead wish to learn more about what we at Italy with Class offer in this particular region, get in touch via email and the team will help right away.

Venice is a spectacular city of surprisingly humble origins, that is now known for the beauty of its canals and its grandiose architecture. The city’s charms have not failed to inspire those who set eyes on it. It acted as the setting of two of Shakespeare’s important works. Venice inspired several works of Monet who fell in love with the city at first sight. Even Napoleon could not escape its charm as he described St Mark’s Square as ‘the most beautiful drawing room in Europe.’

St Mark’s Square, one of the main landmarks of Venice, is definitely going to be one of the fiirst sites you visit on your Venetian vacation.

The floating city continues to seduce millions every year with its whimsical colors, historic bridges, picturesque canals and elegant palaces. It is the city of the Bellini, the gondola and the world-famous carnival. Considered one of the most romantic cities to exist, Venice is the only city in the world where even a monument with a dark past, the Ponte dei Sospiri, has become a symbol of love due to its beauty and elegance.

Whether you are a history enthusiast, an art lover, a foodie, an avid shopper or a traveler looking to get lost in the delights of a magical city, Venice has plenty to offer.

True Venetian Experiences

A meeting point of “art, culture and devotion”: what better way is there to introduce the astonishing Scuola Grande di San Rocco than in its own words? Uniquely preserved, its 60 paintings persist within the seemingly untouched space first founded in the 15th century, giving an awe-inspiring visit for culture-driven tourists.
Enduring history is a theme of the magnificent Venetian landmarks, and the Basilica of Frari holds eight centuries of culture and faith inside its walls. Its artworks should simply not be missed by visitors to the city, in much the same way theatrical fanatics mustn’t miss the Teatro La Fenice and Opera admirers the Musica Palazzo. A twist on the classic, these traveling performers take their onlookers on an orchestral journey through the fascinating halls of Palazzo Barbarigo Minotto.

The Scuola Grande di San Rocco is an elegant building with a stunning collection of paintings on display.

Yet, Venice’s cultural heritage can be discovered throughout the floating city, not just in its churches and theaters. Take to the canals and learn to row like a gondolier to live the authenticity of 18th century Italy. Or sit back and relax as you are guided through the Venetian lagoon, learning of the city’s artisanal masters, such as glassblowers and lace makers. Adding a sunset aperitivo will always offer a splash of romance to tours of tradition.

Alternatively, bring your Venetian vacation sharply in line with the 21st century as you take to the skies, gliding over the city’s terracotta roofs and turquoise waters to access a view rarely seen.

Returning to Rome

And so ends another of Marilena’s Italian excursions. Whilst her journey through Venice is over, the area lays in wait for new explorers yearning to take in its unique charm. Through our strong connection of contacts in the region, Italy with Class can help tailor your very own Venetian vacation, from luxury accommodations and wonderful restaurants to hidden gems and unforgettable experiences. So, what are you waiting for?
